PAVING THE WAY TO RURAL DEVELOPMENT, Shan State, Myanmar မြန်မာ

For centuries the multi-ethnic communities of Shan State, at the eastern border of Myanmar have lived off of the fertile lands. The agriculture sector in the region has enormous economic potential. But bad roads, and for half of the year, the monsoons, limit access to markets, schools and basic health care.

On behalf of the German government, KfW Development Bank, one of the largest development banks in the world, finances roads to link communities with prosperity and keep local traditions thriving.

This video project documents program impact on Taunggyi’s rural villagers. The soundtrack uses an acoustic guitar version of the folk song, Shan Yoma Ka Ohsi Than, with permission, by the late Shan singer and songwriter, Sai Htee Seng.
