Indawgyi Lake, UNESCO Biosphere, Myanmar မြန်မာ

Fauna and Flora International, the world’s preeminent conservation group, supports initiatives protecting Myanmar’s biodiversity. Indawgyi Lake in Kachin State, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is threatened by deforestation due to illegal logging, shifting cultivation, overfishing and sedimentation caused by gold mining.

This 5-part video awareness campaign celebrates the kind and resourceful people of the communities most active in sustainable development. The campaign's primary audience is local residents and the secondary audience is foreigners visiting the area in a push to build eco-tourism to provide an alternative income stream for the lake's communities. The videos were also aired on MRTV, Myanmar's national television network, and on Sky Net Myanmar satellite television network.
